Damon grew up in his mothers kitchen in Modesto, California. Watching her dance through the kitchen as she created amazing dish after dish, he developed a passion for everything involving food. After graduating high school he attended the University of Colorado at Boulder where he studied literature and art history. After college Damon moved to San Francisco where he attended California Culinary Academy for 6 months before deciding it was a waste of time and money. Wandering the city, looking for a job in San Francisco he came upon the name of Modesto native Joe Hargrave who at the time was General Manager of Frisson Restaurant. Damon walked in, resume in hand and was greeted by Joe at the door with a smile and an offer to be a bus boy in his restaurant. From here Damon made his way up the ladder to General Manager. On a fateful visit home to Modesto Damon found that a coffee shop in the building that had formerly been his families first Outlet of their clothing company Royal Robbins Outdoor Clothing, had gone out of business. Almost immediately, Damon began plans on opening up a place in this perfect space in Modesto, and thus Camp 4 Wine Café was born.
