Wine Flight Descriptions
Chardonnay All Day
White Flight
Domaine Lafage “Novellum” Chardonnay, Languedoc-Roussillion, France: The Lafage family has been making wine for more than two centuries. Jean- Marc always had a helping hand in the process of making wine with his dad and after marrying his wife and taking over the estate, his children have gained an interest in taking over the domaine. After partnering with importer Eric Solomon, they conceived of this gorgeous entry level white from the region. For several vintages now, it has represented one of the best white wine values coming from anywhere in the south of France. The wine is made up of 100% Chardonnay aged a small part in barrel (about 30%) and the remainder in tank on the lees of viognier from one of Jean-Marc's other cuvées. This vinification allows for a really complex wine of weight and aromatics without the overt oak tones that permeate so many other Chardonnays at this price.
Talbott Vineyards, Kali Hart, Santa Lucia Highlands, Ca: Kali Hart is the most fruit forward expression in the Talbott family. The Chardonnay grapes are pressed in small lots to preserve the character of each unique vineyard area. With July and August having cool nights and warm days, the grapes mature perfectly and build excellent ripeness and balance. 70% Stainless steel with 30% French oak (5% new) 9 months in stainless steel and French oak.
John Anthony, Chardonnay, Napa Valley, Ca: John Anthony Truchard is a second-generation vintner whose heritage is rooted in the Napa Valley. First and foremost, he is a farmer. John learned traditional winegrowing from his father and other pioneering Napa Valley vintners. As a young man, John put his passion and experience to work by starting his own vineyard management business. He sought small and previously undiscovered parcels of choice land throughout the Napa Valley to practice his terroir-driven style of viticulture. Aged 10 months in American Oak; 65% new neutral 35% French oak

D.V Catena, “Tinto Historico”, Malbec, Mendoza, Argentina: Since 1902, Bodega Catena Zapata has continued to lead a path of progression. Nicolas Catena Zapata is among those credited with putting Argentinean wine on the map, by focusing solely on quality. They’ve pioneered the discovery of the ideal high-altitude mountain vineyards that bring Malbec so much life. Today, Dr. Laura Catena, followed in her father’s footsteps, and continues to lead Argentinean wine in the right direction, and as a family they are recognized name internationally. D.V. Catena wines are sourced from the Maipu and Valle de Uco sub-regions of Mendoza. Maipu being among the most historic and Valle de Uco being the highest elevation vineyards in all of Mendoza. The higher the elevation, the higher the sun exposure, perfect for a grape that requires loads of sunshine to ripen.
Santa Julia, “El Burro” Natural Malbec, Mendoza, Argentina: El Burro Malbec is the first natural wine from Bodega Santa Julia. Natural wines have the most minimal human intervention in the winemaking process, the company says: no sulfites are added, wild yeasts initiate spontaneous fermentation and the wine is bottled unfiltered. Santa Julia has been a very innovative winery for many years, which is one of the pillars that represents their foundation. This innovation, combined with their desire to work in harmony with nature, has brought us this exciting new concept to represent Argentina within the growing natural wine movement.
Recuerdo, Malbec, Mendoza, Argentina: Recuerdo Wines offers enthusiasts the opportunity to experience exceptional premium wines that capture the best of Argentina's unique terroir, specifically within the high-altitude Uco Valley. Recuerdo means "memory" or "memento" in Spanish. As such, the Recuerdo winemaking team passionately believes that each bottle of Recuerdo should not only represent Argentina's native terroir but also serve as a memory of each and every harvest.
