Jean-Luc Colombo, "Cape Bleue" Rosé of Syrah+: Living among the vines, the Colombo’s have adopted numerous sustainable and organic practices, including banning the use of any pesticides and encouraging the natural biodiversity of the land by planting trees around each plot and allowing wildflowers to bloom. Made in Saignée method.
Tacolicious Rosé of Mencía: Mencia is a medium-bodied red wine grape that produces high quality wines with floral and red fruit flavors. If you’ve never heard of it, it’s not surprising, Mencía only grows in Spain and Portugal on the Iberian Peninsula. The wines tend to be lighter in terms of alcohol and more refreshing than those from other parts of Castilla y León.
Carbonisté, Sparkling Rosé of Pinot Noir: The 2018 Sparkling Pinot Noir Rosé is a blend of Pinot Noir from two vineyards in Santa Cruz and Marin, as well as 15% Chardonnay from Marin. It’s a fun and fresh sparkling wine with notes of wild strawberries and guava.
Ànima Negra, "ÀN/2", Callet+: Ànima Negra was founded in 1994 by two self-taught winemaking friends Pere Ignasi Obrador and Miquelàngel Cerdà. They decided to make wine after the wine in Mallorca was not exceeding their expectations. Both men have garnered worldwide praise for the prioritization of natural farming at Ànima Negra. The vines are dry-farmed and are not fertilized, helping to ensure they produce small, concentrated fruit. Chemical insecticides and herbicides are avoided in favor of biodynamic practices, and indigenous yeasts are used for almost all fermentation.
Carlos Serres, Rioja Riserva: Carlos Serres, French winemaker and wine consultant from Bordeaux France saw Haro (wine capital of Rioja) a perfect place to make wine of great quality. After being forced out of Bordeaux due to phylloxera pest compromising his winemaking, he found in Haro the perfect terroir to make Bordeaux style wines, with a climate and terrain which reminded him of the best terroirs in Bordeaux. Aged 24 months in a combination of American and French oak barrels, then a minimum of 12 months aging in the bottle.
Juan Gil, Monastrell: Monastrell goes by a few other names depending on where its grown; Mourvedré in France, and Mataro in specific regions of Spain. Elsewhere it is typically a blending grape but in Jumilla it is often found as a solo variety. It is a meaty, thicker-skinned, rustic grape known to produce full-bodied, richer wines and thrive in warmer climates. This wine is produced in French oak contributing to the richer mouthfeel and long, balanced finish.
